Each of these I write makes me quite nervous. I’m never sure people will like what I write, or more importantly how I write it

I always look forward to seeing your posts, and (based on the comments) I’m not alone. Keep up the amazing work!

The only minor thing I will say is that these info dumps take a long time to parse, and I’m usually looking for shorter content. I often scroll through your posts fairly quickly looking for things that tickle my fancy, but I always go back a second time to see if I missed anything. Also, commenting on a specific section almost requires quoting it to give context. In a perfect world, each section could be separated out into its own post.

But hey, I recognize that would be even more work for you, so it’s not fair to expect it. Just offering an unsolicited opinion. 😜

I really appreciate all of the effort you put into these posts, and I can’t wait to read the next one!

I never played the game, so I’m not sure what SnapMap is (Fandom says it’s a map editor), but there is a note in the “Details” that says SnapMap cosmetics are unlocked by default. Is that something else?

The writeup mentions GoG, but I don’t see any mention of the fact that Sim City 2000, Sim City 3000, and Sim City 4 are all currently on sale. You can get all three for less than $10 out the door.

While we’re at it, I have some other suggestions…

For example, in year 1 that useless letter “c” would be dropped to be replased either by “k” or “s,” and likewise “x” would no longer be part of the alphabet. The only kase in which “c” would be retained would be the “ch” formation, which will be dealt with later. year 2 might reform “w” spelling, so that “which” and “one” would take the same konsonant, wile year 3 might well abolish “y” replasing it with “i” and iear 4 might fiks the “g/j” anomali wonse and for all.

I realized a while ago that it’s not actually the physical media I care about; it’s the unfettered access. Physical media is just the easiest way to achieve that. I still buy from steam and pay for streaming, but I recognize that those could be taken away at any time. I want to feel like I actually own something. I buy digital music because I get a DRM-free file. I buy from GOG because I get an installer that I can store locally for as long as I want to.

When it comes to movies? I have to buy the disc because (almost?) no one offers a DRM-free video file that I can store locally and play whenever or however I want.

It feels weird, like maybe over-practiced, but I agree that it sounds human enough to fool me.

I mean… Which Judgment Day? The obvious answer is T2’s Judgment Day of August 29th, but the timeline is so complicated that there’s at least one Judgment Day in September.

I subscribe to and have notifications enabled for about 13 channels that upload every single day; I only get notified like once a month about a random video whenever YouTube decides it wants to actually do the thing I have told it to do.

This has not been my experience. I subscribe with bell for almost every channel I follow. If anything I almost get too many notifications, but at least I get to decide whether each notification/video is worth watching or dismissing. The new video notifications aren’t always immediate, but I almost never see a video on my subscription feed that I haven’t already been notified about.

Ok. I bought the bundle, but I haven’t heard of any of the games. Are there any that are a “must play”, or do I just add them to the backlog?

Edit: I briefly tried a couple of the in-browser games. What I found was that my French is terrible, and the games need better instructions. I couldn’t do anything in Save the Rioters. Flesh Psychosis is confusing, but might actually be a simple/solid game if I could figure out what I was doing. Macron Dissolution seems to be some sort of political parody quiz game, and I managed to do better than I had any right to do.

Edit 2: I played a couple levels of “RUN: The World in-between”, and it seems like a solid, responsive platformer. I got Super Meat Boy vibes, but I didn’t play it long enough for it to get too challenging.

This isn’t so much “hacked” as someone walked through the door they left wide open. They just hid it behind a bush.
