Used prices are apparently tanking too because the used market is suddenly flooded by teslas. Saw a biker the other day knock on a tesla window at a light and give the driver the finger haha

FKA USA was a humorous and relatively lighthearted -on the road- post apocalyptic satire set in the US

Dual Memory was light, easy to read, and had some creative ideas about robot intelligence tied in

I agree with the others that Becky Chambers novels feel like a warm hug.

One argument the author didn’t cover is whether men (the cultural phenomenon/stereotype) might benefit from reading more than the typical woman.

For example, reading fiction has been shown to increase empathy across a fair number of studies. Just off the cuff I’d say that society socializes women to be more empathetically receptive than men, which, if true, could mean that reading might have an outsized impact on men compared to women who have other outlets for picking up the skill.

Maybe Robin Hobb’s Farseer trilogy? I feel like it fits the soft magic definition somewhat
