  • I found Timeshift to be a disappointment. I tested it as I was setting my system up.

    • Install Linux Mint, obviously.
    • Install most main software I want.
    • Do a Timeshift backup.
    • Install more software I might want to try eventually.
    • Restore the Timeshift backup.

Result: The system still thought all the extra software packages were installed, but none of them actually worked. Like, if Timeshift is gonna uninstall packages that weren’t present in the last backup, shouldn’t it also unregister those packages as well?

To fix all that crap, I had to force reinstall all packages, which takes about as long as a full OS reinstall, but I was already happy with the rest of the configuration, so I ran…

    sudo aptitude reinstall '~i'

  • Disclaimer: Theory, based loosely on related experiences in Windows ages ago back when I actually used Windows.

The keyboard handler might be getting confused when you Alt+Tab, leaving the game stuck thinking you’re still holding Alt+Tab when you return to the game.

Just for shits and giggles, the next time you experience this, try tapping Alt once or twice to see if that refreshes the keyboard buffer and status.

You might even try tapping the other toggle/special keys as well, such as Ctrl, Shift, Esc…

I realize Windows and Linux are like comparing bananas to oranges, but still, the keyboard buffer might not be getting refreshed properly when switching apps.

It’s worth a try, do let us know if this helps in any way.

I’m 42 years old and wrote DOS drivers for mice, joysticks, graphics and audio cards for hardware back in the day.

Oh yeah, check my comment history, I literally just dropped a modded port of Tomb Raider 1 for Debian Linux.

I’m old enough to have repaired three different original PlayStations in one night.

Riddle me this… How many screws hold together the optical assembly on an original PlayStation?

  • They also explain in the video that you basically have to assume that at times the entire towing capacity load will fall on the tongue weight, like when you hit a pothole or speedbump and your trailer starts rocking back and forth a bit.

Everything might be fine and dandy when the load is more or less balanced on the trailer wheels while parked, but when driving, bumps and shit happen, and that towing tongue, back end of the vehicle, and suspension system better be able to handle it.

Any which way you look at it, the front fell off and the back fell off. All around the dumpstertruck isn’t even half worth a shit compared to real work trucks.
