On mine it was slow from the start. I’d click on a button and it would take 30-45 seconds to do anything. Every time. It took me like 4-5 minutes just to sketch a single rectangle.

I’ve tried FreeCad on several systems and have yet to get it to run well enough to even attempt to use it. It either crashes constantly or just runs like ass.
I also installed Bazzite and am missing several things (or at least have to do more research than I’d like to figure them out). Getting my peripherals working, CAD, system backups, pdfs that won’t open from my file server, etc. The more I get into it the more problems I uncover. It has not been the seamless transition that so many make it out to be. It has worked for the games I’ve tried though.
Possibly comes from experience with the shitty ones. I was involved in one for a now-defunct tech school I went to and all I got out of it was like $100. I didn’t have to put any time into it but that certainly didn’t make me whole.
Garbage in, garbage out
Fusion 360 is a big sticking point for me too. I tried FREECAD but it ran like ass on every system I’ve tried it on. I’m currently dual booting but windows already wiped the secure boot key once which rendered the Linux os unbootable somehow even after I turned off secure boot. That was like a week after setting it up. I hadn’t even got started on the laundry list of other shot I needed to get working on Linux.
Yeah, it sounds like Elon but that’s because Elon sounds like a 4chan user. Not the other way around. If this could be him so could thousands of others.
Tesla: LOL our CEO owns the president.
Excel is one of the few things copilot has actually been able to help me with. Apparantly microsofts shitty programs understand each other.
Not if they can’t figure out the peripherals. The only thing missing with the laptop is the dual display. Having to drag around a whole keyboard, mouse, PC, and power bank like that is a lateral move at best. You could probably do what he’s doing with a laptop and it would still be just as if not more compact.
My whole desk setup now easily fits into a backpack and I can take it anywhere
My laptop easily fits in a backpack. Hell I can fit TWO laptops in my backpack.
Yea, it is a complicated issue, but at least the current way offers the little guys some protection. I’ve posted everything I’ve ever made (not that any of it was all that impressive) freely so it doesn’t really matter to me but for some people it may.
But… it’s not the only place to play mario…
This is going to be used corporations to take away everything from individuals who are innovating (more than they already are). Nobody will be able to build wealth off a good idea again. Which if we were in a society where wealth wasn’t required to live a good life I would be okay with, but we aren’t, so I’m not.
I’ll keep that in mind. So far haven’t hit any walls other than FreeCAD running like ass but I’m not sure that’s Bazzite’s problem or something else. Still digging into it.
I’m doing the same thing. Someone recommended Bazzite to me and it seems to come with a lot of the compatibility stuff ready to go. I haven’t really gotten into it much but my plan is to dip my toes in with it and at least learn the names of the apps and what they do. After that If I want to switch I hope it will be easier. The biggest hurdle for me is just knowing what’s what.
I do love the file browser on it already. I’m doing the same stuff with it I had to install 2 3rd party apps in Windows for.
Well if it’s funded by taxes they can scale down. That’s the nice thing about everyone chipping in. If less is needed just take less. It’s not like a business that needs to turn a profit.
Why? All those kids are going to need something to do after they tear down the education system.
shocking
What is it actually fair and restrained or something? That’s about the only thing that would actually be shocking at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they were actually electrocuting people.
Why wait?
