Forums are just not great for real-time interaction like discord chat is, not to mention the integration of voice chat, video streaming, etc is just too convenient to give up without replacing it with something similar. I too wish discord/whatever replacement gets attention was more searchable and kept stuff long-term, but… if you want to post info that lasts, post it on lemme and link it on discord or whatever.

If I could steal a car by downloading it over the internet without depriving the original owner of it and with similarly low risk of getting caught/prosecuted for it I would absolutely steal a car. I wouldn’t steal a font tho, that’s just beyond the pale. :P

Yeah, I got a 7-day ban for saying Luigi Mangione probably shouldn’t go to prison for what he did because they said I was inciting violence. They lifted it on appeal, but not before hitting me with a perma-ban for some bullshit about circumventing the ban with other accounts (I’ve had exactly one account on reddit in the ~14 years I’ve been there), so I decided they were getting a bit too fashy for my taste and started looking for greener pastures.

Yeah that’s my only complaint with the Kindle Oasis, is it still uses microUSB.
So much more what? You know what I want from an ereader? It presents text in a readable format and lets me turn the page/scroll/etc. Those are pretty slim requirements which even the kindle reader software meets, and anything beyond that is honestly probably just extraneous for me.
The downloading books thing is kinda handy, but my PC doesn’t have bluetooth or wifi, so that wouldn’t work for me anyway. I honestly don’t leave the house very much (I’m disabled) so I’m rarely far from my PC/USB cables.
Honestly I like my non-jailbroken kindle just fine, but I don’t buy ebooks through Amazon, I 🏴☠️ and use calibre to convert them to Kindle format.
Fair enough, I haven’t looked at it at all since I last used linux a couple decades ago, that’s just been my experience with trying to use other linux-native software on windows.
No shit? I’ve been using Greenshot for screenshots for a while (stupid Foxhole closing tooltips whenever I hit shift for the snip tool hotkey) but had no idea it did anything more than that. I’ll take a look, thanks!

When I first started playing video games they were 320x200 in 4 colors, and they weren’t even good colors, they were cyan, magenta, black, and white., so yeah, I’m not that fussed about graphics.
Yeah I’ve played it, I preferred Pirates! because it’s more about the adventure than just endless combat. Honestly I rarely even shoot the cannons on my ship except to very occasionally chain-shot someone’s sail or grape-shot their crew before I go board the ship and win it via fencing, so I’m not even all that into the combat.
Does that even run on windows without a bunch of hoop-jumping and some jank-ass chunky qt-style UI elements? I seriously haven’t looked at GIMP in like 25 years.

I kinda don’t though. I quite enjoy real-time chat and voice and video with friends. It’s not like forums don’t exist at all anymore tho - you’re on one right now. I get my forum experience from places like reddit or lemmy, and I use them for very different things, so I’m glad both exist.
