Probably the same steps you’d need to if you use Plex and are CGNATED (thanks CGNAT for teaching me basic networking).

You know all the certs and security and port stuff you need to do? Plex does that. You just download the app, point it at your folders with media, and you’re all set both at your home and beyond it.
I am just gonna read your comment until here, Plex does shit if you are CGNATED, and as it is 2025 I suppose most users are, I still needed to expose through IPv6 with a reverse proxy, using a VPS or a VPN to access my Plex Server, so yeah, Plex hasn’t helped me at all since many years ago with the noob friendly approach they have.
EDIT: Oh and their relay feature is garbage, even for Plex Pass users, and I happen to be a lifetime one.
These posts are top notch content, I don’t even have a Steam Deck but I love the way it is formatted, this is peak Lemmy, congrats OP.
EDIT: I am following you in Mastodon now!
Comparing your experience with macOS would be a bit unfair, how about with Windows?
For example I can tell the sleep feature works better in macOS than Win10… Battery backup as well…
Once several years ago, I needed to use 3rd party tools and I wasn’t too confident to mess up with the MacBook, which is considerably more locked than previous laptops I have ever used, that is why I wanted to stay in the Boot Camp field.
I am pretty disconnected from this videogame series, is Oblivion now the best looking game from Bethesda? (It should be as it is the most recent game I suppose) Would you recommend it over Skyrim graphical and gaming/story wise? Would a new Skyrim remastered game with these assets would be near the horizon? lol.
I don’t know how to install Linux in my MacBook Pro 2014 without fucking up macOS, I do have Win10 installed already with Bootcamp, so this LTSC version already looks more interesting to me than any of the Linux flavors.
I can fight anyone who tells me Metroid Prime Hunters online gameplay with the stylus and the touchscreen is not peak shooter gaming on the go.
Craiglist was never relevant in Mexico, so I gotta give this win to Facebook ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Is there any instance that has a poll for Linux questions for the registration yet? If there isn’t I would be surprised.
It is pretty good for a system that is capped at 30 FPS though, and 40 FPS is the very minimum it reaches, it usually stays around 50-60, but we all already knew the Switch 1 internals were underclocked.
I think I could aim for a more stable 60 FPS but my Switch still has the OG thermal paste and the environment where I live is hot, so I am more than comfortable with what I can get without harming my Switch in this scenario.
For me the answer is pretty clear, right now with my overclocked Switch 1, I get above 40 FPS most of the time (60 in certain areas) with BOTW and also I am using Fizeau to improve the colors to make it look more like a Switch OLED (it even looks great on the TV), I don’t expect TOTK being too different.
I don’t consider myself an early adopter, heck I never am, the only time I recall is getting a New Nintendo 3DS Black Friday edition even before the BF (the thing arrived first in Mexico) just because it was a special edition and the only way to get that model here officially… And for a good price even!
The only reason I am tempted to get a Switch 2 is because it probably means it will get exploited easier/earlier than the next batches.
I couldn’t get in contact with Nintendo in Mexico, I ended up buying those AliExpress repair kits and did it myself after several frustrating hours.
And that is why it would be fun to troll the worldwide players with such a tactic, at least for a little while, but the world ain’t funny anymore and they wouldn’t do that with arguably the most expected game of the decade.
Is there any mission as of nowadays that forces you to drive according to traffic laws in any of all the entries?
If not I propose a very annoying one like the Driver tutorial as the GTA VI tutorial.
It has to do with me, I love tinkering, I can’t because I can’t buy the Steam Deck officially.
I have never cared about winning Internet arguments, nor I have been surprised with such a reply, so there is a first time for everything I guess.
My point is that there’s no reason to think the Switch 2 can’t be emulated on the Deck, at least not until we get more information.
Also there is not a reason to believe that it will emulate Switch 2 games… What I can almost guarantee is that it won’t be as smooth as it does with Switch 1 games, unless we talk about less demanding games ofc.
The Steam Deck supports 4k60 just fine, just not on the built-in display ofc.
TIL, so docked emulation could be something (I suppose it gets more power plugged in as well).
I am sorry, I don’t think I follow, I am CGNATED anyway, so I need to use VPNs to access my server (if IPv6 is not available, for IPv4 I am experimenting with Tailscale funnels as of now).
Pocket Cast, because it is the only option to have my queue synced along all my Android, iOS and even Alexa devices (I don’t pay the subscription so I am missing out on the desktop and website ones), if there is an alternative for it, please enlighten me.
