That’s great news! Will check it out.
Just a pixie from the holler.

Most people like to have the phone app for socials, makes it easy to browse or keep on top of posts more convenient. Honestly, I can’t really think of any social media platform that isn’t app based for this very reason. Goals for success: make it easy to use, engaging, and have an app with a good UI.
Just don’t follow much on Friendica due to a lack of iOS app. And only had one for android. For it to really take off, we need app development as well. This is a great step though as an easy UI will promote use.
Ah, I get what you mean now by inflammatory statements (after a thorough reread) and why there may have been downvotes from that. Though interestingly, I didn’t feel my comment was very inflammatory and it got downvoted too. 😅
I was looking at it more from just a standpoint of systemd itself, and honestly, just looking at it from the standpoint that fedora and rhel can tend to be industry leaders for change. Honestly, if RHEL and Ubuntu together made some sort of meaningful change from a system perspective, I think we would see that move downstream.
As far as my use of the term bloated, I’m looking at it strictly from a standpoint for the amount of code that goes into the system. The more code you have, the more entries for security risks. I’m not saying that there’s anything that’s particularly better out there right now, but I think we should always be looking for alternatives regardless of what your views are for the people that created the code. KISS philosophy, basically. That and being open to change to avoid stagnation.
Not sure why the downvotes on this? Systemd is bloated and known to present security risks. Don’t see why looking at alternatives wouldn’t be seen as positive growth.
Mint. I used to distro hop so much and just got tired of having to reload everything. That was the last one I had done prior to having no more time to switch. 😅 Plus, it just works and it’s easy.
I just went through this tree about a week ago. Downloaded the app for iOS to try it and would say it wasn’t ready for mainstream. It looks very similar to discord but it just consistently would crash or send me back to the website in order to get anything done. Even the main channel for Revolt would hang and not load properly. That and iOS is on TestFlight… not gonna work well for non tech enthusiasts who know how about it. That
I have a small server on Discord and would love to move it. But the people on it aren’t super tech savvy and the replacement will need to work. Plus, I have less desire to go from one centralized service to another, especially when the backup doesn’t work well. Wish Element would get it together with the phone app and make spaces appear as they do on the computer. That and stable call/video channels.
It would be nice to see a capable app built on matrix platform. Or just another capable platform that has a well working app. Just my two cents.
