A buddy of mine worked in a theatre and told me that the film’s were all 1080P. I called bullshit. Those screens were huge they were clearly 4K. He showed me the reel and yup he was right.

I think it was google that fucked it up. The newest (as of a long time back) version of Android broke it and I had to install a separate app to get ACR working again. And it never recorded their end properly unless I was on speaker or their side was somehow audible through my mic. So stupid.

Eh stylized assets aren’t necessarily easier or less time consuming than PBR. It’s not difficult to make a game look realistic these days at least to a reasonable amount of scrutiny. Also this is a large developer with a lot of funding so EA isn’t going to cut corners in the art department with one of their flagship IPs. You also can’t just reallocate artists to work on mechanics, these are entirely different departments and the process of hiring/firing workers dynamically doesn’t gel well with a production pipeline.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If your site doesn’t work on Firefox your site doesn’t work. As web developers your job is to develop applications for the web not for one specific browser. This goes double for essential services.

The fact that shrink-wrapped agreements aren’t automatically void worldwide is a fucking abomination. No you shouldn’t get to push a legally binding contract on me after I paid for the product. When I bought Fallouts 1, 2 and Tactics from EB like 15 years ago I couldn’t run them even with the disc in the drive. The shitty securom was broken and refused to recognise the disc. It was only thanks to pirates that I was able to crack them and play the copies I fucking paid money for.

I didn’t mind Reddit gold as a method of paying for upkeep on an ostensibly free site. If well-off Redditors wanted to chip in to help with maintenance resulting in fewer or less intrusive ads then that’s grand.

The point when they started losing me was when the Reddit front page modernised into the Instagram feed looking abomination it is today and when they shifted from Reddit gold to the silver diamond thing they have now. No I don’t want to make an avatar. No I don’t want to follow users or have them follow me.

It started as the last example of old social media like forums and got metric’d into this half-formed freak of a site that seems to actively resent the users that build and maintain their entire platform.
