it sounds like you want an internal voxel grid and for all the art and animations to respect that grid. I don’t have any recs but I’m posting in solidarity because I feel the same way about pixel art games

I’m waiting for the entire industry to crash and let indies fill in
super mario advance was my first mario. looking back, its good when sequels try new things. and the mario franchise is better for what doki doki brought in
mario level design is just so good that way
thanks for the suggestion! I have started before and it didnt click. maybe I just wasn’t in the mood. I think I’ll give it another chance next time I get the arpg itch, if I don’t just pick up tl2 again
I fell hard into diablo 3 when it launched on ps4. that’s my baseline and I haven’t found any that play as well on controller.
torchlight 2 on console comes close (very annoyed I can’t play this way on pc).
path of exile is also okay, but I can’t stand the drop rates and market. ftp cosmetics bug me, but online markets ruin a game.
I’ve also dabbled in a few others, mostly with poor controller support or clunky combat that just doesn’t feel good to me.
overall though, I’m just tired of sorting loot. love the grind, love finding loot, hate sorting. games like backpack hero tell us some people love that aspect, but I’d like to see more options with unlimited storage and a good sort/search menu
I can’t believe this discussion is still happening
oh that was a good one. I should go back and rewatch it
I can’t contribute to this specifically, but I love this topic and would love to see something like an indie alternatives community. personally I’m still hooked on civ vi and can’t find anything that scratches the itch (paradox and sega aren’t good alternatives to 2k)
if orange box 2 comes with all the 3 games we won’t ever need a third box
I’m not into sports or sports games but the classic nes and snes games getting annual roster update romhacks makes me happy
dorf screenshots look pretty good
can only hope quest 1 has an end as good as go
it would be helpful for experimental to still use numbers for this type of thing

when I compare an mp3 file to a flac file, the flac sounds better. theoretical maximum mp3 bitrate isn’t what I experience.
sorry about the 2tb miscommunication. 100% my bad.
even if 2tb is too much, it is expandable, and the one you posted isn’t. personally I have a few hundred gb. some people do listen to more music.
I dont don’t think its worth $250 but its a cool project to be excited about.
for me, open source is mostly philosophical. that won’t mean enough to everyone. I also expect better long term support from an open source project.
that is a fair point. works on what I own but I’m not involved enough to know what this is capable of. I’ll be keeping an eye on reviews and future development, and keep my ipod rocking as long as I can
I can hear flac is better than mp3. maybe I can’t hear all flac has to offer, but its a better listening experience. also the page 100% says it supports up to 2tb sd. the things you listed literally dont matter to me
I use rockbox on a late ipod classic. I find it a very good listening experience, but I am interested in switching to open source *hardware
why not though? i support cyborg caveman theory
