I do have a qualm with how easy it is to accidentally close bitwarden before saving a password and losing the password you just generated. But that’s just taught me to not zip through the process

Ah just another reminder as I get older and that all good things must come to an end.
Some people hate on them but they didn’t have to make this show. It definitely spurred conversations and projects to be better rather than some corporate overlords saying use our ecosystem.
Definitely gonna miss it and guess I’ll check out Linux unplugged every now and then

All it takes is some API calls and some simple python scripting and you could data mine a person. Maybe they subconsciously only upvote LGBT posts. Maybe they downvote leftwing posts.
Then, oops, one day they post something that can doxx them and now they’re getting targeted ads or worst case a stalker or someone who wants to get them fired/thrown in jail.
Now imagine a machine learning algorithm or AI has done all the data mining and it took just a couple days to work through all users on lemmy.world.
If there’s any data that could be used to make money someone will eventually try it.

Holy fuck whoever was in charge of setting up that disaster recovery needs a million dollar bonus. I get that they’re managing $80B and this should all be standard but people usually don’t listen to IT and take DR seriously. And even if you do set it up, are you going back to check that your backups are functioning properly and have alarms for when it messes up
