Energy density needs to increase for sure, but I see a point where cars charge fast enough that there will be less need to increase it further. I imagine it’ll look a lot like gas stations today, where they stop for a few minutes and leave again.
Most vehicles should be charging slowly at home anyways.
That’s what I meant. Compared to the power the GPU is actually using, transmission losses for a pass-through should be negligible. If you have a good way to get it to the card in the first place.
USB standard is up to what, 40Gbps and 240W? That’s pushing the envelope already. We’ll see if this new standard can prove itself, anyways.
It would just put extra thermal load on the GPU.
Passing power through doesn’t have to put noticeable load on the GPU. The main problem I see there is getting even more power to the GPU - Nvidia’s top cards are already at the melting point for their power connector.
That seems like a spectacular oversight. How is it supposed to replicate human vision without depth perception?
I tried that with a friend once and we were confused about the purpose. Now it makes sense!
The key is to change the layout, then the only problem is really replacing a mouse with the joystick.

Does that sound like a lot to you?
Considering the use I got out of it, even if I switch to something else tomorrow, the cost for the lifetime pass was peanuts. I’m sure others making that decision based on the situation today will feel the same in a few years. If Plex seems like the best solution today it’s not going to fall off the cliff before $120 were worth it.
Not like FOSS projects are immune to bad decisions, and then you either fork it yourself or depend on unpaid volunteers to keep the version you like alive. There’s always some risk.
Self driving is supposed to improve on humans, so there’s that.
At this point everyone should know that YouTube thumbnails have no requirement for accuracy. It’s more like an album cover.
Compound bow in Crysis, I think it was the third game.
Flak Cannon in Unreal Tournament.
Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2 obviously.
It was unnecessarily complex to accommodate their cloud infrastructure setup.
Please elaborate how you needed to “accommodate their cloud infrastructure setup”.
When I set my server up years ago all I did was log in on the web interface. Literally as simple as any other service.
I set Plex up as an inexperienced selfhoster in 2020 and it was easy.
You can also test if multiple monitors is having an effect.
Using sleep mode is a good idea anyways, regardless of idle draw.
I have insisted on physical media for my stuff since the dawn of MP3’s - in the form of hard disk drives. That’s the physical media MVP in my book.
World of Warcraft
On my first character alone it was 370+ days at some point, and I retired her when the first time expansion came out. Safe to say I’ve spent years on that game, even though I don’t even remember how long ago I quit.
Your laptop may be 13 years old, but Apple is notorious for their walled garden and surely never officially supported Linux on it, or did they? So it’s probably the worst example.
