Yep this is exactly why I refuse to do the scan as you go, it ends up seriously frustrating. Self scan at checkout is fine if you don’t have paracetamol or alcohol, otherwise you’re waiting ages for assistance.
It’s definitely an overall worse experience
Mullvad works fine on both LMDE and stock mint fwiw
True we say 15th September, not 15 September
Ubuntu is derived from Debian.
In linux there are 3 “popular” parent trees (plus a couple more obscure ones)
Debian tree, RedHat tree and Arch tree.
Debian is “parent” to Ubuntu is parent to Mint (standard versions)
LMDE applies Cinnamon and Mint tools to Debian.
I would have thought finding Hitler unlikeable would be a positive attribute ? Was that a typo ?
Orwell was a socialist so making lists of leftists seems surprising; are you sure this wasn’t an ideological tankies vs socialists or marxists vs trotskyists ?
Mint defaults to LTS. You can install the latest kernel through the upgrade manager
You can install the 6.2 kernel on mint through the upgrade manager gui. It’s just a couple of clicks.
On the other hand Mint has a reputation for “just works” because the defaults are indeed LTS
LMDE is the backup plan the guy you replied to was referencing.
It’s rough around the edges compared to mint cinnamon but it works just fine, just needs a bit more customising attention after the install.
You can have secureboot on mint. On mobile but I’ll search up a link when at desk. It’s not terribly hard given Mint is derived from Ubuntu. Should come up in a search if you’re impatient
Ok but that reddit mod (it was /r/Linux right ? ) was eventually booted for being an utter arse and I’m 98% sure he didnt run Arch (he had a foss purism thing going and iirc was on debian)
I mean toxicity at reddit is why most of us are now on lemmy right ?
Cool. Good article - which shows exactly what I said.
Solve is not the same as reduce/improve/alleviate.
As Musk knew full well when he tweeted it. No one has a solution for it, the best you can do is alleviate it for a bit.
Is he being a pedantic dick ? Yes. Did the original tweeter provide a plan to solve world hunger. No.
He provided a plan to reduce world hunger for a time. It’s not a solution, it’s a reduction in misery which I’d be very happy if Musk paid for. But it’s not making world hunger entirely go away even short term let alone long term.
Aid spokesman engaged hyperbole drive and tweeted “if a billionaire like @musk gave us $40bn we could solve world hunger”
Musk replied “ok i’m listening, show me how you can solve it, if it sounds real I’ll write the cheque”
Aid spokesman (back pedalling) “well not solve as such, but definitely make better”
Musk “whatevs then”
I mean he does say so much actual stupid shit, why do you guys keep making shit up ?
Edit to add not verbatim I can’t be arsed to go find the tweets now he’s fucked twitter
OP claims to have successfully installed arch to confirm it’s not a hardware issue fwiw
No prob.
In my opinion always check the arch wiki if you’re having problems, even if you’re not running Arch, it’s a gobsmackingly good repository of linux knowledge
Did you check the wiki ? If you look that model up on
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/CUPS/Printer-specific_problems you check the wiki ?
And click on brlaser (the default driver) you’ll find a comment pointing to a fork of the driver
https://github.com/Owl-Maintain/brlaser
Hope that helps. If you’d already gone through that then sorry to waste your time
Ditto. I’ve literally never had an aur package break my system either, but like you if it doesnt want to play first go, I’ll almost always find an alternative.
Which, again, misses the point. Original OP said “install native” replying OP said “but what about (package)” (obviously intending that to be a gotcha) and I replied with “well it’s in mine”
I have no idea what debs& rpms are available, nor do i care.
And what is this “possibly broken aur” rubbish ? It’s a repository, and it most certainly isn’t broken.
Individual packages may be broken but they can be broken in any repository. Are you saying there’s never been a broken package in a debian repository ? Lol.
Edit to correct “you” to “OP” as you aren’t the original person doing the “whataboutism”
Nope, nothing broke but
Aborting… error: failed to build ‘tuba-0.4.0-0.1’:
and I can’t be arsed troubleshooting why for a package I have no intention of using. LOL
Great advice.
Btw you don’t need -S to install a package, just
paru packagename
Works fine
