Good pick! I was so bummed when I heard that was cancelled.
I’d like to play around with whatever alpha build they made for the original concept of Team Fortress 2.
I love the one that came out (it’s probably my most played game of all time), but those first few screenshots before retooling were captivating when we’d already been waiting so long for the release.

I can’t grab it either. It keeps telling me to log in when I’m already logged in.
I hope you like it! KSR’s whole collection is worth a read; he’s my favorite living author.
The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson is an alternate history about if a plague had wiped out 90% of the European population before the renaissance and how the would could have shaken out instead, focusing primarily on Arabic and Chinese culture.
It follows a small group of people who are reincarnating through the ages, all the way up to modern times. It’s an amazing novel, and very approachable if you’re even vaguely into history.
Nice, a DL and everything!
I played this a lot.
Yeah, the 25th anniversary TOS point & click game was another pick of mine. It’s the only Trek adventure game I’ve played though, maybe I should check out some of the others.
Oh nice! I’ll have to look that one up, I’d never even heard of it. Sounds awesome though.
I was hoping someone would mention the disc launcher!
We used to play the shareware version on the school computers whenever we had free time. Shazbot!
Undeniable classic. Not much more satisfying than hucking a file cabinet at a group of people who don’t see you yet.
Also, the trip mines were fun to use in smaller games (just like the Duke3d ones).
I don’t think I’ve gotten to that one yet.
My kid and I are really into Bushido Ball, which is such a cool game.
UFO50 is probably my favorite release of last year.
Should have called it the Nintendo Top.
My favorite is probably Aurora, in which a generation ship makes a voyage to Tau Ceti to set up a colony.
After that, I really enjoyed Galeleo’s Dream, a time-travel story about the famous polymath and a plot to reshape the history of scientific thought.
And Shaman is also great: it’s about the paleolithic people who painted the chauvet cave and their struggle to thrive in an impossibly harsh time.
And finally I also just finished The Years of Rice and Salt recently, and it’s one that I know I’ll have to re-read sometime. It’s an alternate history about how the world would shake out if the population of Europe was wiped out by a plague in the 1400s and follows a set of characters reincarnating over the centuries.
KSR is probably my favorite living author.
I think the book is supposed to be more “this is what is possible” than an actual roadmap.
His optimism is what I really like about his work; anyone can throw up their hands and give up, but that’s a dereliction of duty. Believing that a better world is possible and worth fighting for is the point, in my opinion.
Nice! I’m playing mostly enhanced vanilla, I’ll dig into OpenMW at some point though. I had no idea there was a decent multiplayer mod!
Still going on UFO50. There’s still a couple games I haven’t even tried yet.
Also, doing a modded playthrough of Morrowind, which is a TES game that I missed when it came out due to having an underspec PC. Its magic creation system is ridiculous and a lot of fun to play with. I wish they’d put something like that in TES6, but I’m not gonna hold my breath (without making a spell for it, anyway).
Didn’t catch any grenades, but I imagine so?
I played last night and showed those young’uns how to use the gravity gun.
Hadn’t played regularly in about 15 years, but the reflexes are still there.
The Oblivion score is so good.
