Gamer™
I have commited the Num-Code for ™ to muscle memory.
Other interests include bicycles, bread making and DIY. I do own a 3D-printer and adore the Nintendo 3ds.
But Doctor, I am Pagliacci!
There is some aspect of Japanese culture I can really do without in my games, like everyone being either a high school student, just getting 18, or 60+. Especially when they then get into relationships.
Then again, I can’t really say if that would sell. I’m certainly not deep enough into anime culture to gauge interest there.
Yeah, sorry, one comment up from that one was the one I thought you responded too. Doesn’t change anything though as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t think there is anything left to say, good luck with that Revolution thing.
The commenter you replied to was basically just informing people not to buy. You made a great showing that you were going to buy anyway and you don’t care. That is something you need to justify, not the buying itself. No one would even know if you didn’t go out of your way to tell everyone.
And yes, what you do is good, but takes time to amount to anything. In the mean time, it is perfectly acceptable to also pursue methods that work in the short term. We aren’t just individuals on a forum, we are public opinion. As flawed as it is, that’s still better than the apathy you promote in your first comment.
Anyone who disagrees with that fact also thinks it’s okay to go to the casino just for the bar at the back.
You can always be mad at 2 or more things at once, and how the gaming industry sucks out money from the consumer to pay their executives should be one of these.
In all the industries you mentioned, “voting with your wallet” is a thing that’s universally accepted as effective but at times hard to do. In gaming, it couldn’t be easier, you can literally safe money by buying anything cheaper from the indie sphere, not buy anything at all and play games you already own, wait 2 weeks and get a 2nd hand copy, or the unnamed 4th thing.
And the impact is more than just having a worse game to enjoy. As much as we like to laugh at people for their bad financial decisions, some people just cannot think rational about these things, and every game that includes microtransactions is simply not safe for them. Casino’s are heavily regulated for a reason, it is perversive brain stimulation with decades of research behind it, and we invited it into our consoles and computers for kids to enjoy. And more and more people just expect games to be predatory, and it warps how they think of the effort put into games. Being a functional, complete game without any in game purchases used to be the minimum. But if you expect anyone to have your mental fortitude, that no kid will wander into this menu and that everyone has an unalterable image of the industry, feel free to support this.
Genshin Impact lies at the end of this road.
You do not have to support these decisions. You can be a Monster Hunter and Capcom fan, and not buy into the hype. Vote with your wallet.
Will keep an eye on this, but there is nothing too local here (No, I can’t host something myself). Given how the specification says there should be a location and radius per instance, some admins are really slacking on putting that info in the description.
The right to free speak can be compromised if it interferes with other, more important rights…
… like the right of shareholders to make money.
(n*(n+1)/2 = 25*13 =325
Never mind the fact that the “correct” number of days on an advent calender is 24.
Europa Universalis 4 with friends, Rune Factory 4 and Rhythm Heaven Megamix on my 3ds, Balatro and Yugioh Master Duel because I’m a card nerd.
Apart from them straights not being a Monolith, I feel there is a difference between not being represented and being actively excluded. You know, one is bad and one is worse.
You can and should leave a “Need a ____ tag” at the forum then. Don’t know why the article is so snarky about that, the poster of that seemed reasonable enough on the first 2 pages.
Say what you will, but implementing all manners of tags so users can express themselves, just to specifically leave out one is exclusion. “Move aside, heteros, this is our game!”.
You can argue that they deserve it, that the developer has no obligations, that they are represented everywhere else and that they should play those game instead, but it remains exclusion.
“Return of the Obra Dinn” is the best Detective-type game I have ever played. Pure inductive, yet always logical reasoning. The setting of an Victorian ship, the 1-Bit artystyle, excellent ost and memorable story really elevate this recommendation to a must-play.
On something from this decade, Balatro is great if you like cards and rouge-likes. But it’s been so popular I don’t think anyone interested hasn’t heard of it yet.
Oh, and as others have pointed out and I’d hate myself for not mentioning it, Tunic is great as well. It’s a love-letter to the instruction book, and makes one really feel like playing an old game and relying on an instruction book, while not being all that great at reading, like some may remember from their childhood. But with modern game design and what others call Dark-soul mechanics (idk, I have never played a Fromsoft game).
Yeah, I was just pulling your leg. Being a goofy goober. Why would you read this very specific list of games and think I was earnest?
Tomb raider had infinitely many rumours about a nude-cheat because boys were so thirsting about Lara Croft, while Metroid and Shantae reward fast playthroughs with bikini pics.
Man, am I glad I grew up with less horny games. Like Tomb raider, Metroid or Shantae.
The real reason is probably that we said comparable stuff, just as whispers and not written in an anonymous forum. And we weren’t even egged on by forum culture or our games to be as horny as possible, the former drives engagement while the ladder drives sales.
There are about 2000 wild tiger left, I found this article from 2011 saying that they might be extinct in the wild by 2030.
So there might be 2000 ecological niches for smilodon to fill in 5 years. We better hurry then.
Is fixating on the mammoths here first-world centrism? The article mentions 4 other species that have way better chances. Also, given how far we are from actual wild mammoths, that “it can solve climate change” argument is just wrong the way it’s been presented.
By “read the post”, I assume they mean “read the 2nd sentence”.
The increases range from 20% to 56% in price depending on currency.
Sure, to verify this claim would take a bit more work. But the comment in question was just “14$ is not 50% more”.
The more appropriate thing to point out is that the increase in US $ is just 16%, anyway.
Underhero is a RPG. There is (bad) 2D platforming and an interesting blend between turn based and real time battles with decent amount of player expression, but I find most interesting the writing and scenarios you will find yourself in during the game. You play as an Underling after the Hero has an unfortunate accident after all, and while technically a silent protagonist, all entries in the journal/hint system/to-do list are just brimming with personality.
I swear I first saw this game in list of “Paper Mario-likes”, but I can’t find a single video with that topic that mentions it, and now I realize that it only has like 600 reviews on steam.
