A game that depicts gambling but has no actual gambling in it - absolutely fucking NOT, PEGI 18+
I can understand why PEGI would be hesitant to give a game depicting gambling a rating of 3+…
But putting it as 18+, on the same level as actual, real money gambling games is ridiculous.
It shows a complete lack of awareness regarding the difference in danger between depiction of gambling vs actual gambling. And perhaps more dangerously means malicious publishers (cough EA cough) are able to get away with slipping disguised real money gambling into their games (and in front of children eyes) unnoticed.

You make a good point. Even disregarding how well known Itch is, their registrar acted woefully incompetently by not even attempting to contact Itch.io about the takedown request (which is what Brandshield should have done in the first place)

Iwantmyname acted incompetently, but so did Brandshield, who decided to go straight to the nuclear option of a registrar takedown, rather than issuing a takedown request to Itch themselves
Yeah, if Iwantmyname are so neglectful as to pull the entire plug on your website over a singlular copyright claim, then I’d move right the fuck along too. They’re clearly not a trustworthy registrar.
To make things worse, Itch.io isn’t exactly a small company either. If this happened to someone smaller, with less outreach to fight back with than Itch, I can only imagine they’d have no recourse against this neglectful behaviour.

Honestly I’ve never gotten the desire to do one of these things. You give away arguably the most uniquely valuable and private part of yourself to this company (or companies like it) to do god knows what with in exchange for these results that are (IMO) ultimately just unnecessary trivia about yourself.

Self-regulation is a lie, you need an objective referee to ensure everyone is playing by the rules. Having a referee that can’t punish anyone is as good as not having one at all
You’re right that sequels can absolutely enhance a game’s legacy, but they can equally tarnish it ala Borderlands 3.
I’d argue being beloved without a sequel is better than having a bad one.
Alas, we will now never get those three sequels that McGinn and his team had been all too willing to create. But, tragic as that is, perhaps that lack of sequels played a role in Hit & Run becoming the iconic title it is today.

Considering how historically ineffective age bans have been online, I’m surprised that countries keep trying for this. Telling kids, esoecually teenagers, that they’re not allowed to use social media will only make them want to use it more, and thus bypass any restrictions, defeating the purpose of the ban.

Forcing social media companies to put in place appropriate safeguards for kids who do end up on social media like this “digital duty of care” is probably more effective in the long run than playing an endless cat and mouse race.
Honestly. I’d be fine with a touchscreen for things you wouldn’t likely be adjusting on the go anyways - but basic stuff like the radio and AC/Fans should always be easy to distinguish, don’t need to look away from the road to operate buttons. Making basic stuff require touchscreen is inconvenient at best and outright dangerous at worst.
Considering even MySpace and Digg stuck around despite falling into irrelevancy, I doubt Reddit will ever truly die off…
But I suspect that even irrelevancy won’t happen anytime soon, simply because there’s no slot-in replacement for Reddit.
As much as I like the Fediverse, we’re not a slot-in replacement. Decentralisation helps make us more free, but it limits how big we can get as a platform.
You would need a centralised competitor, something like what Xitter is going through right now with BlueSky and Threads. But for as much as Spez is a piece of shit, he’s no Elon Musk just yet.
The only shame (for me at least) is that this is a VR title, so I won’t be able to play it despite being hungry for another Metro game since finishing Exodus
LLMs are made to mimic how we speak, and some can even pass the Turing test, so I’m not surprised that people who don’t know better think of these LLMs as conscious in some way or another.
It’s not a necessarily a fault on those people, it’s a fault on how LLMs are purposefully misadvertised to the masses
