I, too, thoroughly enjoyed reading this and I’ve read a lot of internet histories. Author did an amazing job at making it a fun read while putting the facts out there.

Unless it’s just plain old stock market manipulation with a twist. Always follow the money.
The problem with common core math isn’t that rounding is inherently bad, it’s that you don’t start with that as a framework.
Real ones are great but definitely more expensive. My wife has one that uses liquid and she puts jewelry in. Works extremely well.
Not this.
Very cool write up. I’ve always wondered what tools people use to do things like this.
You aren’t the only one who doesn’t get the Slack love. I HATE their design philosophy. It has threads. That’s all it’s got going for i in my opinion. The rest of it is confusing and a pain to use.
The problem you aren’t recognizing is that, until humans are no longer driven by self preservation, there will always be oppression in any system. They all have and will continue to breakdown. It’s easy to blame capitalism but even socialist systems eventually cave under the weight of greed and power. We are the problem mon frère.
All of this is totally plausible and not that wild. I believe her. Also Streisand effect much? Never knew of the book till now.
That’s why I said it would break CEC. They could, but it s not a good idea.
HDMI-CEC is a communication standard.
I read the article before I saw it here (I follow ars). What they describe hasn’t been my experience. I press the power button on the Apple TV and it HDMI-CECs the TV power on and changes the input to the Apple TV HDMI eArc channel. They could change that behavior but it would break HDMI-CEC.
Yeah, I suppose. I don’t use the rock UI, it goes straight into the Apple TV when powered on so I don’t really care that much.
They have models that blink the large white LED light until it’s connected to WiFi. Annoying as hell.
This is old and they’ve already said it’s a bug. Stellantis sucks for sure though.
An enclave is defined as an area within a territorial boundary. So an exclave is an area outside of a boundary with ties to the main territory
Essentially, Apple is trying to realize the security advantages of a microkernel without tossing the monolithic aspects of XNU.
“In iOS 18, exclaves refer to specific resources that are separated from the main iOS kernel (XNU) and cannot be accessed by it, even if the kernel is compromised,"
Pretty neat hardening of the OS. Decent write up that isn’t too deep in the weeds.
And you’re being pedantic and missing the point.
So a projector, just like DLP. That’s the backlight technology in this case. Instead of an LCD screen being integrated into the projector itself, it’s on a larger screen in front of it. Same difference as far as lighting technology goes.
A better one would be, “A Projector With Contrast You Haven’t Seen For Years.”
I mean, every time we hire a new manager (not high level mind you) we tell them that whatever they communicate digitally, they better be comfortable with it being read in court.
Billionaires really have fuck you level of money. They just don’t care to think at all, and they’re okay with that. Gross.
