I have HDDs that have been with me for almost 10 years. I need to replace one with one that I can use as a backup for all of them AND have some to spare.

Fuck you Sony…
Signed a lifelong pirate.
Yeah I remember those. Where I grew up that style of ring pull was the dominant style.
One reason why that style was retired in many places was to reduce waste. When you had a ring pull tab that peeled off, most people threw that away separately. I remember seeing those tabs being thrown all over the place.
This reminds me of soda/beer can designs. You know the hole in the ring tab? I used to believe it was there only for it to provide better grip for your finger when opening it. Turned out it was also there so you can fit a straw and have a way of stabilizing it.
Most people had no idea about that.
I say please and thank you to AI chatbots all the time. This is to make up for my misspent youth insulting Dr. Sbaitso…
Thorium? Fucking sweet!
I never liked 4Chan even when /b was the big thing and not the /pol.
Them calling you a whiner was a massive dick move. I hope they have their ass roasted (in a video game. Literally, as in they cannot win a single multiplayer) for that insult.
I bought Star Wars squadrons and it worked for a bit. Now it doesn’t even boot and I don’t know why. Initially it was my shitty anti-virus that was causing the problem, but even after disabling it it doesn’t load.
He stocks them in his stomach.
Pete Hegseth is not top shelf, but his liquor is.
This is why I will always have some nostalgia for physical media. I still got CDs I bought in the 90s (which I’ve copied onto my hard drives a long, long time ago) and while they need a like coaxing to work at times, they are forever mine and no one can take them from me.
I was very hesitant to go on steam specifically for their ‘you don’t own shit even if you paid and followed the rules’ garbage.
Descent… man I haven’t played that or magic carpet in ages. I need a trip down memory lane later tonight…
Shit, mentioning the T1 really made me have a minor flashback. Yeah. Back in the 90s computer processing power varied dramatically between users. Like when I got a 386 around 1990 it had a whooping 40mb of space and 1mb of RAM. It was a lot for the time. We never had to run anything directly off disks. But just 3 years later when Doom came out (and I remember the launch of Doom) i was surprised that we couldn’t have it because it needed 4mbs of RAM. Also our computer wasn’t fast enough anymore so when we DID finally get it years later we needed to use the smaller screen option to get it to run fast enough otherwise it was too choppy to play.
Someone playing Quake, a game that only came out a few years later, with that kind of machine you’re talking about would dominate. Not because of skill, but simply that his comp has the speed that can allow him to act and react much faster than his opponents.
It would be like if you took a modern formula one race car from 2025 to a formula one race in 1925. A medicore driver would win, but not for skill.
I got permabanned for criticizing Israel. The final comment that got me permabanned was literally ‘No, just the problems they deserve blame for’ to a zionist who accused all Lebanese of blaming all their problems on Israel.
I can see some purpose in having a ‘smart’ toilet for monitoring health. Your pee and poo can have some value in seeing if there anything that needs to be dealt with medically. But even that is difficult to do. For one thing, it must still function ad a toilet first before anything. Meaning it uses the simple mechanical flushing and refilling and stopping when it is sufficiently full.
However for this the analysis and storage of data must be 100% at the user’s control. If they want it gone. It is gone. Irrecoverable. Any update must be done via USB or other connection. No wifi or internet.
And even then the analysis can be off for obvious reasons. People need to scrub their toilets and some keep it clean by having one of those pucks in the tank that sanitize the water. All of these can interfere with any results out of a medical setting.
Adams’s law.
They are already doing that shit.
That is why it is a backup. The others will still be used. There is one drive I want to get rid of, and it is because it has been malfunctioning for a long, long time.
