Make mastodon more accessible then.
Make mastodon more accessible then.
Yes. People don’t realize algorithms are one of the main reasons decentralized sited haven’t taken off. Most people don’t want to spend time looking for their content, they just want to log in, laugh at funny memes and look at pretty art
Even then, how many people actually left their Twitter accounts?
I can’t tell how many times I’ve seen people say “I’m leaving Twitter” only to come back after a month
There are a lot of artists on pixelfed, but lack of an algorithm makes finding them very difficult
“Tankies”
The irony with this is that Lemmy was founded by communists and it follows a lot of communist principles.
People expect to pay a carpenter or a plumber for their services, why shouldn’t entertainers and content creators be allowed to get paid for their work?
It is kinda bad. Especially when it comes to finding content or getting noticed

Let’s get real, most of the people stayed on reddit. Only a very small fraction tried lemmy and an even smaller fraction have completely stopped using reddit.

Oh boy, where do I even begin:
Federation. People have no idea what it is, which means that they have to familiarize themselves with all these technical concepts just to create an account.
Servers. Most mastodon servers are locked, and you have to petition the admins to let you in, which often implies waiting more than a day. In other sites, you can create an account in 5 seconds, so mastodon is at a disadvantage.
Lack of an algorithm. This implies people won’t see the content they like, which means they have to go and actively look for content. Most people don’t want to spend time doing that, they just want to log in, laugh at funny memes ans look at pretty pictures.
