I hope you go to the show anyway.
I regret not going to shows of artists that just can’t be seen anymore

That does seem like a pickle. There is a band that is (well, WAS) LOCAL to me and I still couldn’t get digital files. I was bitching about on reddit a while back, and I got a DM from someone who sent me an email with the files. They’re in 320mp3, but better than what I had before.
Good luck with that, and have fun in Guadalajara if you go!
Seriously? Like, finding and buying those two CDs used would be cheaper than maintaining a Spotify subscription.
I’m glad you have luck with govee lights. The controllers on the strips I have need to be reconnected to wifi 2-3x a week. They’re a total pain for me.
I have a bunch of stuff in my Amazon cart ready to convert the strips to wled. Very much looking forward to bot having to deal with them anymore
Yeah, but is it comparable to German doner kebab?
There’s ten places with that in the name where I live, and all of them are pretending to be doner kebab
I live in a doner desert. I mean, there are places that CLAIM to have doner kebab around here, but they have apparently never been to Germany. There’s something so perfect about Turkish food with heavy German influence that I haven’t been able to find anywhere outside of Germany.
I’m glad you had two years of joy in Fresno, but sorry about the closure
All I’m getting out of this is it’s potentially possible to get doner kebab in the US, and I should take a trip to New York
This was exactly my experience with Artemis. I had to stop halfway through because I really didn’t like the protagonist and reading her in first person was torturous for me

That’s maybe LITERALLY what they said, but I think they meant “there were a lot of things reddit got wrong that we don’t have to do here.”
Personally, the API change was just the thing that made me realize reddit’s quality has been in bad shape for a long time. I hadn’t realized some of the seemingly minor changes in the content that irked me had all combined to make Reddit kind of a shitty place to be. Once the major thing happened, I actually felt relieved that I could stop going there because things weren’t ever going to get better.
I really miss rediquette being enforced, not by just the moderators and admins, but by the community. People (in general) would politely call out bad behavior, have civil discourse, and put forth their best answers as a cultural aspect of Reddit. Of course, that wasn’t universal, but it was the predominant behavior.
The low effort karmawhoring, click and rage bait, overused jokes, and childish content (for me) have lately become the core cultural components of Reddit instead of the outliers.
Anyway, that’s just my opinion and an explanation of why I (and I believe others) are here now. Let reddit be reddit, and let’s make something cool here that draws from the positive components of Reddit and discourages the some of the less enjoyable things about it.
I’m not really involved or in a position to act on something like this; I’m just a user passing by. Bearing that in mind, I have a thought about this topic that your question teased out.
Reddit has become increasingly bad over the last several years with low quality karma farming, predictable shitty overused in-jokes, Facebook style content, and spam/scam bots. The recent decisions by reddit made me realize it was time to go, but that was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. All of the other terribleness that reddit had to offer were the most significant causes for me. Yes, there was absolutely some amazing, informative, high quality original and thoughtful content, and I’ll definitely miss that. But here there is the opportunity to make something new. Something better.
Reddit has some strong positives that can be inspirational in the fediverse, but we (in my opinion) shouldn’t be trying to clone reddit here. Therefore, I don’t think we should be setting up bots to crosspost everything here and eventually make this Reddit 2. Of course, others have their opinions which are entirely valid. Just adding some thoughts to this matter.
I guarantee it’s loaded with ads and bloatware too. Samsung is the worst for that
You gotta pump those numbers up
