They placed me in Portland based on the Smoking Popes, The Jesus Lizard, and Flipper
It said people in Portland tend to be fans of those bands
I’m gay, and I got Portland
I will admit that I used it for years for the rewards, and it worked well for me. Once I started using a VPN though, it decided I could only redeem my rewards in Canada (I live in the US). I could have probably fixed it, but it caused me to have one of those “what am I doing anyway” moments and switch to using a SearXNG instance instead.
Honestly that should have just been the article title
Some speculate this is an intentional move by Google due to suspected loss of ad-revenue. We don’t know
Oh, we know. It may technically qualify as speculation, but we know.
I’m uncomfortable with Meta being involved
Even if they vetted their apps properly, I’d still not want to use it tbh. Microsoft is untrustworthy, even from a “massive corporation” perspective.
Tbf Microsoft wants you to rely on their store to install things. People just don’t trust it, for obvious reasons.
What? Do people say this? I’m new to Linux, and I’ve encountered nothing but helpful, patient people so far on the Linux Mint forums.
This sounds like some desperate projection to me lol
In both cases, I’ve encountered a lot more people complaining about them than I have obnoxious Linux users or vegans
I’m working on that
Or just use Bulk Crap Uninstaller
Oof, well I don’t like the sound of this at all. Looks like my days of using YouTube might be numbered.
If these sites keep enshittifying at this rapid pace, I may be forced to touch grass before my time is up
OP didn’t say if they use Firefox. If they’re using Chrome, then I’d find this result rather unremarkable and unsurprising.
Caste by Isabel Wilkerson - opened my eyes to the true history of race and how it is used in the US to oppress and marginalize
Anarchy Works by Peter Gelderloos - one of the most comprehensive yet easily digested books that successfully answers many of the fundamental questions we ask about anarchism as well as some of the silly misconceptions people might have
Cannabis by Box Brown - really approachable history of the Illegalization of cannabis
All these books really opened my eyes, I guess you could say
Thanks!
Is this typical? I don’t often read the Verge unless someone links it, but even the first paragraph already made me cringe a bit when they talked about “deciding to buy a plane ticket” or whatever idk the exact words, I’m not going to read that again lol
Not an ad, but pretty questionable for a YouTuber to put a plug for their sponsor as the frontmost text, when many of us use sponsorblock to actively avoid seeing such content.
At least it’s a good warning not to click that link.
