So there is already a thing with Windows 11 where you can, as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription, upgrade your Windows 11 machine from Pro to Enterprise.

The idea of having the base OS be a subscription is really just a stones throw away.

… but the Pro -> Ent activation process is really a PITA and often randomly PC’s will revert back to Pro after they’ve been ugpraded, so I guess we’ll have fun with that.

Yes, an OEM license is not transferable from the hardware the OEM originally installed it on, even to a VM running on that hardware.

I still use Reddit on desktop but I’ve switched to Lemmy on mobile since Reddit killed third party apps.

I would use just Lemmy but it hasn’t hit userbase criticality yet.

It’s fine as a link aggregator but frustrating when a post I’m interested in has a deserted comment section.

It’s true, game prices today are the same as they have been for the past 40 years for AAA titles.

I can’t think of an industry which hasn’t had a price raise in decades.

Gaming had managed to get by on this thanks to increasing market volume as gaming became more mainstream in addition to extra revenue streams like micro transactions. But it’s hitting saturation now and won’t keep counteracting inflation forever

I would argue that it’s no longer ‘egg’ once it’s carbon ash and therefore never melted before it’s existence ended.
