It created a genre. And it was surprisingly competent at what it sent out to do. In hindsight it was a miracle. Brand new technology harnessed to birth the 3D platformer. It was amazingly ambitious all around.

It was such an evolutionary leap forward from the previous MM games. Everything was bigger and better. The graphics, the music, the controls. It blew my mind at the time.

Right. If you react to this news with disappointment, and believe me I’m disappointed, maybe it’s more a wake up call the support was never real to begin with. I feel we’re better off without such hollow gestures. Then again I’m not a part of a marginalized group and maybe it’s not that black and white.

It’s also just flat out cheaper to remove physical buttons. Remove a handful of buttons and you might save a few dollars per vehicle once you add up the cost of each switch, connector, and associated wiring. That’s huge when you’re producing tens of even hundreds of thousands of vehicles.

They tried getting away with this crap to save a few bucks without passing on the savings but you’re seeing some pushback. VW, for instance, has stated they’ll be migrating some functions back to physical buttons soon.

I like the direction they’re taking with the cameos. It feels like they explored DC / horror flicks / action movies enough. Homelander and Omni Man alone are great additions.
