The people who actually make these games have said that the timeline in Hyrule Historia is little no more than elevated fanfiction, because they don’t follow it when making their games. It’s all retcon and forced connections.
People who want them to have some shared continuity as if they’re a real history might as well make a timeline for Mario too. It’s silly, and misses the point
Headline is misleading. There is no canon timeline and never has been, regardless of what officially-licensed book it was published in.
The game designers have said many times that they don’t take any sort of timeline into account when designing a new Zelda game. They nail down the mechanics, and the story comes next, and if it happens to match up thematically in relation to another game, that’s just a bonus.
I’d love to see Monkey Island revived as a more open-world style game on the order of Fallout.
I sometimes have a twinge of guilt about it too. When I was younger and had more free time, I would spend time on actual submissions and not just comment. But I’m too old and tired for that shit these days.
Posting an opinion on a political hot potato like Israel-Palestine is just asking to get banned by someone. Because there’s religion inextricably tied up in it, it’s one of those things that short circuits rational thought in a certain sort of person.
And that should be obvious. People who say things like “fuck Israel” (fr tho, fuck the Israeli regime, but also fuck Hamas) shouldn’t be surprised if some backwards dipshit - or a corporation that relies on backwards dipshits for revenue - goes nuclear on them.
RedReader is almost tolerable, but man I just don’t have the tolerance for the atmosphere of shit that swirls around there like I used to. I’m grateful Lemmy exists as a far more comfy alternative.
The main problem is just that it’s harder to get started with it than it is to just hop on another social media site and browse. It requires a bit of effort, and that’s like being second to start a race. It’s always going to be hard to catch up.
It’s not something children should watch alone, I’ll grant that. But it is and always should be something families can watch together.
I would hate for this to take the same path the Trek franchise did and start adding in a bunch of gratuitous gore, pointless profanity, and alien titties.
Knowing there was new Trek for the first time in ages and then finding out I couldn’t comfortably share it with my kids was a big disappointment. I don’t want that to happen to Doctor Who.
I struggle to think of something I could possibly care less about.
