I’m getting really frustrated here.

I have a home server running plex with an NVIDIA gpu for transcoding. Everything was working fine. I haven’t made any changes, nothing is different, but suddenly plex is broken and the GPU isn’t working.

When I do an lspci linux is able to see the GPU just fine; it’s there, but when I run nvidia-smi I get an error:

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

I’m at a loss here, IDK how the fuck to fix this. I’m getting really annoyed with it, this was a massive pain in the ass to set up as it is. Does anyone here know how to fix this?

I won’t lie, I’m getting really sick of the reddit blackout. Trying to do ANY home networking stuff without reddit is going in fucking blind, and solidly half of the useful information that I can find on this entire topic is now gone. I’ve been at this for a damn month and am still hitting stupid problems and every time I find answers to them they’re either wrong or hidden.
